Where to Buy Diwali Gifts in Delhi? Popular Markets, Shopping Areas & Gift Ideas

Diwali shopping in Delhi has its own charm. A single shopping trip can take you from the old lanes of Chandni Chowk to the handicraft stalls of Dilli Haat, the colourful shops of Lajpat Nagar or the premium stores around Khan Market.

Whether you are looking for traditional diyas, festive décor, ethnic wear, dry fruits, sweets, home décor or something more personalised, Delhi has shopping areas for almost every type of Diwali gift.

If you are wondering where to buy Diwali gifts in Delhi, the best place depends on what you want to buy, your budget and how much time you have. Here are some of the popular markets and shopping areas to consider this Diwali.

Diwali 2026 dates

Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The five days run from Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November, through Choti Diwali on Saturday, 7 November, Lakshmi Puja on Sunday, 8 November and Govardhan Puja on Monday, 9 November, to Bhai Dooj on Tuesday, 10 November.

Delhi markets are at their busiest in the last week before Diwali and on Dhanteras, when jewellery, silver and utensils sell fastest. If your list is long, shop for décor and gift boxes in the last week of October and keep the final weekend for sweets and flowers.

1. Chandni Chowk – Traditional Diwali Shopping

For a traditional Delhi shopping experience, Chandni Chowk is difficult to ignore. The historic market is made up of several specialised lanes, each known for different types of products.

During Diwali, you can look for decorative items, diyas, festive clothing, jewellery, fabrics and traditional accessories. Kinari Bazaar is known for zari, zardozi and decorative trimmings, while Dariba Kalan is associated with jewellery and traditional products. The wider Chandni Chowk area also gives you plenty of options for food and sweets after shopping.

Best for: Traditional gifts, festive décor, ethnic wear, jewellery and decorative items.

Tip: Chandni Chowk can become extremely crowded around Diwali, so plan your visit with enough time for walking and shopping.

2. Lajpat Nagar Central Market – Gifts, Fashion & Festive Shopping

Lajpat Nagar is a practical option if you want to combine Diwali shopping with fashion and everyday shopping.

The market has clothing, accessories, footwear, home products and festive items. During the Diwali season, you can also find diyas, candles, decorative pieces and gift sets. Delhi Tourism describes Lajpat Nagar as one of the city's major shopping areas, with a wide range of products and price points.

Best for: Ethnic wear, accessories, home décor, festive clothing and affordable gifts.

3. Dilli Haat INA – Handicrafts & Unique Gifts

If you want a Diwali gift that feels different from something picked up from a regular retail store, Dilli Haat INA is worth exploring.

The market brings together handicrafts and products representing different parts of India. Depending on the stalls available during your visit, you can find pottery, lamps, textiles, jewellery, decorative products and regional handicrafts.

Dilli Haat is also listed by Delhi Tourism as a major shopping destination for handicrafts and contemporary Indian products.

Best for: Handicrafts, pottery, lamps, home décor, regional products and traditional gifts.

4. Sadar Bazaar – Bulk & Budget Diwali Shopping

If you have a long gift list, Sadar Bazaar can be particularly useful.

The market is known for wholesale and budget-oriented shopping, and during the festive season you can find decorative lights, candles, diyas, festive accessories, household products and other Diwali essentials.

It can make sense for people buying gifts or decorations in larger quantities rather than looking for one premium gift.

Best for: Bulk purchases, decorations, diyas, lights, candles and budget-friendly gifts.

5. Janpath Market – Handicrafts, Accessories & Small Gifts

Located close to Connaught Place, Janpath Market is another option for smaller Diwali gifts and handicraft-style products.

It is useful when you are looking for accessories, decorative products, curios and items that are easy to carry. You can also combine a visit to Janpath with shopping and dining around Connaught Place.

Best for: Handicrafts, accessories, décor items and small gifts.

6. Karol Bagh – Festive Wear & Traditional Shopping

Karol Bagh is one of Delhi's established shopping districts and is particularly useful if your Diwali shopping list includes clothing, jewellery, accessories and traditional wear.

Ajmal Khan Road and the surrounding shopping areas offer plenty of options across different price ranges. Delhi Tourism also identifies Karol Bagh as one of Delhi's major shopping areas.

Best for: Ethnic wear, jewellery, accessories, festive clothing and household shopping.

7. Khan Market – Premium Diwali Gifts

If you are looking for a more premium gift, Khan Market offers a different shopping experience from Delhi's traditional bazaars.

You can explore lifestyle stores, gourmet products, books, home décor and premium gifting options. It can be a good choice when you want something for a client, colleague or someone who prefers curated products.

Best for: Premium gifts, gourmet products, lifestyle items, books and home décor.

8. Sarojini Nagar – Affordable Gifts & Festive Fashion

Sarojini Nagar is well known for budget fashion, but it can also be useful for Diwali shopping if you are looking for affordable clothing, accessories, décor and small gift items.

It is particularly useful when you are shopping for several friends or family members and want to keep the individual gift budget under control.

Best for: Affordable fashion, accessories, festive wear and budget-friendly gifts.
