Understanding New Friends Colony's Character
New Friends Colony is one of Delhi's more established, upper-residential neighbourhoods, developed with a genuinely different character from Nehru Place's commercial density — quieter, greener, and more residential, while still sitting immediately adjacent. This gives the shared Saltstayz property a useful dual character: close enough to Nehru Place's commercial energy for business travellers, while offering the option of a calmer evening environment typical of New Friends Colony.
Who Should Book This Property?
Business travellers with South Delhi meetings — if your work is genuinely anchored in Nehru Place or the surrounding South Delhi commercial belt, this is the direct, efficient choice rather than commuting from Central Delhi.
Travellers who value South Delhi's dining scene — South Delhi consistently ranks among Delhi's best areas for food, and staying here rather than in a purely commercial central district gives genuine access to this.
Family or leisure travellers wanting a calmer South Delhi base — New Friends Colony's residential character offers a quieter alternative to Connaught Place's tourist density.
How Does This Compare to Staying in Connaught Place?
Connaught Place wins on centrality and walkable access to major monuments. Nehru Place & New Friends Colony wins decisively if your business or social ties are genuinely in South Delhi — the commute savings across a multi-day trip generally outweigh CP's sightseeing convenience for this specific traveller profile.
Getting Around From Nehru Place
Beyond the dedicated Nehru Place metro station, this South Delhi belt connects reasonably efficiently to other parts of South Delhi by road. Peak traffic windows (roughly 9-11 AM and 6-9 PM) still apply here as elsewhere in Delhi, so build buffer time into any cross-city meeting.
What Amenities Does the Nehru Place Property Offer?

South Delhi's Broader Commercial Identity
Nehru Place sits within South Delhi's broader commercial landscape, which has developed a genuinely different character from Central Delhi's government-and-tourism focus or Gurgaon's MNC-corporate identity. South Delhi's economy blends established trade districts like Nehru Place with a growing base of professional services, consulting, and creative industries, giving the area a more varied business community than a single-sector corridor.
The History Behind Nehru Place's Electronics Market Identity
Nehru Place earned its reputation as Delhi's electronics and IT hardware hub starting in the latter half of the 20th century, developing into one of North India's most significant markets for computer hardware, software, and related services. This trade-district identity persists today alongside the area's growth into a broader commercial and office district, giving Nehru Place a genuinely layered character — part traditional trade market, part modern office district.
Practical Tips for Business Travellers in This Belt
If your meetings are specifically within Nehru Place's office towers, confirming the exact building name against your appointment details before booking will help you gauge walking versus cab distance from the property. For meetings further into South Delhi beyond this immediate belt, factor in Delhi's peak traffic windows (roughly 9-11 AM and 6-9 PM) when planning your day's schedule.
New Friends Colony as a Residential Reference Point
New Friends Colony's establishment as one of Delhi's planned upper-residential neighbourhoods gives it a genuinely different rhythm from Nehru Place's commercial bustle — quieter streets, established greenery, and a slower pace in the evenings. For travellers who want proximity to Nehru Place's business district without feeling like they're staying in the middle of a trade market, this adjacent character is a genuine advantage.
Extended Stays for South Delhi Business
For business travellers with recurring or extended South Delhi engagements, this property's consistent amenities — buffet breakfast, room service, guaranteed check-in — hold their value across a longer stay more meaningfully than they would for a single overnight. If your work brings you back to Nehru Place regularly, setting up a Beyond loyalty account captures compounding benefits across these repeat visits.
Final Thoughts on Booking in Nehru Place
For business travellers genuinely anchored in South Delhi, and for anyone who values South Delhi's dining scene or New Friends Colony's quieter residential character, this property delivers real, practical value that a Central Delhi booking wouldn't match. It's built for a specific, common traveller need rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
Nehru Place's Ongoing Commercial Evolution
While Nehru Place's original identity as Delhi's electronics and IT hardware hub remains a significant part of its character, the district has continued evolving over recent years, with a growing mix of general office tenants, service businesses, and professional firms establishing a presence alongside the traditional electronics trade. This evolution means Nehru Place today serves a genuinely broader business community than its historical reputation alone suggests, making it a practical base for a wider range of corporate visitors than just those with electronics or IT hardware business specifically.
How South Delhi Compares to Gurgaon for Business Travel
For business travellers whose work spans both South Delhi and Gurgaon, it's worth understanding how the two compare. Gurgaon's corporate real estate skews heavily toward large MNC offices and GCCs in purpose-built business parks, while South Delhi's commercial character, including Nehru Place, tends toward a more varied mix of established trade districts, professional services, and smaller businesses alongside larger corporate tenants. Neither is objectively better for business travel — the right choice depends entirely on where your specific meetings are, and South Delhi genuinely shouldn't be treated as a lesser alternative to Gurgaon simply because it's less internationally marketed as a corporate destination.
A Longer Look at New Friends Colony's Residential Character
New Friends Colony's establishment as one of Delhi's planned upper-residential developments gives it design characteristics that set it apart even within South Delhi's broader residential landscape — wider plots, established greenery, and a layout that has aged into a genuinely mature, leafy neighbourhood character over the decades since its original planning. For travellers who appreciate a quieter residential setting as part of their stay, even while conducting business in adjacent Nehru Place, this character is a genuine, tangible amenity that a purely commercial locality wouldn't offer.
Frequently Overlooked Practical Details
A few smaller details help when planning a Nehru Place stay. Confirming the exact office tower or building name of your meeting against the property's location helps gauge realistic walking versus cab distance, since Nehru Place's commercial density means addresses can be closer together than they initially appear on a map. If your evening plans lean toward New Friends Colony's quieter dining options rather than Nehru Place's more commercial atmosphere, it's worth checking specific restaurant locations in advance given the area's residential street layout.
